National and Texas data indicate that students from culturally diverse backgrounds and students receiving special education services have a higher probability of being excluded from general education classrooms because of disciplinary practices. Educators, politicians, community leaders and professional organizations recognize the crisis of disproportionality and advocate for the use of equitable practices for all children.
During this session we will:
• Explore disproportionality in school discipline
• Analyze the impact of disproportionality on student achievement
